Still Alive With Spurs at 7 to 1 and “O” Yes, The Belmont Stakes
0After cashing on Louisville at 8 to 1 followed by the disappearing act by the Bull’s Derrick Rose I thought our basketball season was over. Then along comes the over the hill gang from San Antonio to peak our interest in seeing King James and company go down. Everything points to a Heat repeat but don’t bet on it!! Vegas has Miami at -220 favorites over the +190 underdog Spurs which makes our January gotten 7 to 1 odds look like a steal. The good news is that 6 of the last 9 NBA teams to sweep their foe in the conference finals have gone on to win the Championship. Plus teams coming off a sweep versus one who took 7 games to secure their conference championship (Heat won 4 games to Pacer’s 3) are 4-2 (67%) in the Championship Finals. After watching the Heat this past week I really do believe the Spurs have an excellent chance of upending the defending champions. Game one is critical because 46 of the last 65 (71%) winners of the opening game have gone on to win the Larry O’Brien Trophy. Go Spurs!!
“O” yes there is a Triple Crown race on Saturday with 13 colts and 1 filly ready to contest the 1 ½ mile distance at Belmont Park just outside of NYC. Regular visitors to this spot will remember I liked an “O” horse to take the Derby and favored Orb did just that. In the Preakness another “O” horse named Oxbow stole the middle Triple Crown jewel under Hall of Fame jockey Gary Stevens. Well Saturday in New York I think it might be profitable to put a little something on all three “O” horses to win and as for you more exotic pundits you might try boxing the “O’s”. I actually like Overanalyze best of all!! A Todd Pletcher trained horse ridden by Johnny Velazquez at 12 to 1 morning line odds seems like a decent wager to me but remember this game will never be fair until they tell us what the horses weigh. Good Luck!!!
