Parity in NFL confirms my decision to make free NFL picks all underdogs

I have been wagering on the NFL for almost 50 years and it was only last year that I realized it was no longer smart or profitable to lay the points in any of these games. You are already giving the house an advantage by laying the juice on every wager, so why, in a league that reeks of parity, would you give points in any contest?

A quick look at the 2012 NFL standings after only two weeks shows that there are only 6 of 32 teams that have not tasted defeat. That means less than 20% of the league’s teams have been able to defeat their foes two weeks in a row and one such squad – the Philadelphia Eagles – failed to cover the spread in either contest while turning the ball over nine times!

The perennial powerhouse New England Patriots just lost their home opener to the Arizona Cardinals as a double digit favorite! Last year’s eventual New York Giants won only nine regular season games! At no other time in the 90+ years of its existence have the words “On any given Sunday” been more true in the NFL. Check back every Sunday for my free NFL picks and I give you my word none of them will be favorites.
