Florida Gators NOW 8 to 1

While in Las Vegas two weeks ago today I wagered 50 units on the Florida Gators at 35 to 1 to win the BCS Championship. I knew if they could upset LSU at home that coming weekend they would vault into the title picture. They did just that!! They then whipped Vandy last weekend and when the initial BCS standings were released on Sunday night they were ranked #2 much to the dismay of Oregon Duck fans. Those same fans should find solace in that only twice in the fourteen year history of the BCS have the two top teams in the initial standings played for the title. Also 26 of the 28 (93%) participants in the big game have been ranked in the top 6 in the first week’s standings. That is good news not only for Duck fans but also bids well for Kansas State, Notre Dame and once beaten LSU. The same LSU team made the title game in 2003 coming from outside the six hole in BCS Poll number one. There is still a lot of football to play and the Gators have a rough road ahead but the good news is that in 12 of the 14 years (86%) of the BCS at least one of the two top ranked teams has made the Championship game. That fact alone would account for Florida being listed at 8 to 1 yesterday at the LVH in Vegas. That is an astounding drop of 27 points in two weeks. So much for the good news in that our ticket has great value but the bad news is they will have to probably beat Alabama or LSU again to get us where we need to go. Just part of the fun of playing the futures.
