Betting Against Lebron and Company in the NBA Futures

Last month while in Las Vegas I placed my wagers for this year’s NBA Futures.  Lebron and his Miami Heat were cofavorites with Oklahoma City thus I had to throw both teams out. I have lost interest in the NBA both as a fan and as a sports bettor. The game they play doesn’t even seem like basketball to this old timer and the reality is that there is only a handful of teams that can REALLY win the championship. Therefore I only wagered 200 of my normal 500 unit bankroll for each sport. In the Eastern Confrence I took a flyer on the Chicago Bulls at 18 to 1 (100 units) in the hopes that point guard Galen Rose somehow makes it back this year. They play tough defense but need his floor leadership and scoring to challenge Miami for a trip to the finals. I feel much better about my other 100 unit selection which I placed on the best TEAM in the NBA……the San Antonio Spurs. The key word is TEAM. The Spurs have veteran leadership, play together more than any other squad in the NBA and have the best bench in the league. I hear all the talking heads at ESPN talking about their age but at 7 to 1 I will take the “old guys” to challenge OKC for the Western Confernce title and a trip to the finals. Don’t forget they had Durant and company down 2-0 last year.
