NBA Opening Night Who Cares?

Tonight the NBA kicks off yet another season and Commissioner David Stern has announced his retirement amidst praise from the media for turning the league into a monumental success. He has made the owners billionaires and the players millionaires but what has he done to the fans? The cost of seats has skyrocketed to the point where the average Joe can no longer afford to attend a game not even if he chooses to sit in the nose bleed section. There are only a handful of teams that are REAL contenders for the Championship. The top line players are dictating where and with whom they are going to play. I have the Direct TV NBA package and if a week night game involves two non-elite squads the empty courtside seats are abundant. These seats are all owned by corporations not by the true basketball fans. Mr Stern I hope you enjoy your retirement but I wonder what the real NBA fan thinks about your “success”.
