National Championship - Oregon v Ohio State

I have been going to Vegas for over fifty years and I have to say it has changed more in the last two than it did the previous forty-eight. Sadly, the changes are not for the better. Homeless people are everywhere and violence is an everyday event. It makes me sad that Las Vegas is experiencing what every other large city in America is. I take five trips a year to Sin City to shop for the best odds in sports futures. I used to always look forward to those trips but that is no longer the case. The truth of the matter is now I cannot wait to get back on route 15 back to California. Hopefully the local politicians will solve these problems but I wouldn’t count on it.

The purpose of last week’s visit was to wager on the college football championship futures. Alabama was the clearcut favorite with odds ranging from +150 to +180 in all the sports books I visited. I was able to wager on Ohio State at odds of 4/1 at the Treasure Island but they were +325 every place else. The books are obviously electronically connected and communicating their odds to each other. It makes my “job” a little more difficult but finding the BEST odds on a team is still an important part of my process. Below are my wagers for the upcoming season that kicks off September 3rd with Notre Dame visiting those same Buckeyes. It should be a great game that will give me an early season feel for how the Buckeyes stack up against the better teams in the country.

  • Ohio State     400 Units       4/1
  • USC                 400 Units      25/1
  • Clemson         200 Units      14/1
  • Texas A & M  400 Units       25/1

If any of the bottom three sneak into the playoffs I will be able to hedge my wagers and manipulate a profit. Remember this is all about ROI. Return On Investment. If you are traveling to Vegas during the season be safe and thanks for checking in.
